Call for Volunteers – Blue Rodeo Concert

The Ignite the Spirit Campaign is seeking a  large task force of volunteers in a variety of areas to help ensure the success of the Friday, August 5th Blue Rodeo Concert at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Grounds.  The concert which will also feature Carleton Stone, The Heartbroken and Jimmy Rankin is a fundraising event in support of the Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Project’s $5M Ignite the Spirit Campaign. Civic Centre Will Provide New Opportunities for Central Nova Scotia

With summer just around the corner, the excitement amongst the project and the Ignite the Spirit campaign is heating up.  The spirit will be ignited in Truro on Friday, August 5th when Canadian band, Blue Rodeo arrives in town to perform in an outdoor fundraising event at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Grounds in support of the Ignite the Spirit campaign.   Three opening bands will take the stage before Blue Rodeo including; The Heartbroken, Carleton Stone and Jimmy Rankin.   Tickets are $45 plus service fees & tax in advance and will be $55 plus service fees & tax at the door.  They are on sale now and available at the Marigold Centre, MacQuarrie’s Pharmsave (The Esplanade) and online at www.marigoldcentre.ca.  Get your tickets now for this event in support of this great community project. Summer Fundraising Concert Planned!

The spirit will be ignited on Friday, August 5th when Canadian band Blue Rodeo arrives in Colchester County to perform an outdoor fundraising concert.  All proceeds from the event will go to the $5 million Ignite the Spirit Campaign in support of the Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Project. The open air concert will take place on the grounds at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition in Bible Hill. (more…)

Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Project – Taking the “Green” Approach

If you have driven by the Civic Centre construction site on Abenaki Rd. recently, you have likely noticed a visible difference in the amount of work that has taken place. The work crew of the Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Project has dedicated many long hours in cold temperatures and while the winter weather presented a number of challenges, the progress accomplished to date is remarkable.  (more…)

Fitness Centre and Rock Climbing Wall to be Included in Civic Centre Design

Mother Nature has thrown a few snow balls at us recently, but rest assured this winter weather has not slowed things down at the Abenaki Rd. construction site. Central Nova Scotia Civic Centre Project construction manager, PCL has confirmed that construction is moving along on schedule and we can expect to see more walls being formed and concrete poured over the next couple of months.   Regardless of the weather, all necessary equipment is on site to move forward with construction. An Inside Look into the Arena

If you have driven by the site recently, you will notice that work on the west end of the site, closest to the 102 series highway continues and tremendous progress is made each day.  The area presently under construction is where the aquatic centre will be located.  By the end of January the footings should be in place and work on the foundation walls will be underway. Additionally, the infrastructure for power and telecommunication requirements will be completed and will mark the beginning of many great things to come. (more…)
